5-year-old Room Outcomes
Just as the previous years, Mes Amis Daycare & Preschool refreshes your 5-year-old child’s memory of what they have already learned. We then help your child prepare for their grade-school years through hands-on experience in reading and writing. As the year comes to an end, your 5-year-old is able to:
Continue working on everything from the previous year
Understand some words about time and order
Read and write simple basic words in English and French
Recognize letters and the sounds they make
Correctly say all sounds in words except "th" and "v"
Recognize some familiar written words
Speak clearly enough to be understood by everyone
Tell about your own experiences and ask about yours
Skip across a room
Catch a small ball
Walk on a beam without falling
Hop on one foot for ten feet
Copy shapes
Cut out simple shapes following an outline
Know right from left on own body
Play cooperatively with two to three children for 20 minutes
Pay attention and follow simple instructions when in a group
Complete washroom routines without help
Apologize for actions he/she didn’t mean to do
Show an understanding of right and wrong
Listen while others are speaking
Help others
Explain rules of a game or activity to others
